Fold Instructions:
- Lay your pocket square on a flat surface – smooth out the wrinkles.
- Fold the square, corner-to-corner, to create a triangle.
- Fold down the top layer, stopping before the bottom edge.
- Create a pleat by folding the same layer upward, leaving a gap between the two corners.
- Create a second pleat by folding the same layer down again – the corner should overlap the bottom edge.
- Flip over the pocket square.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 for the back side.
- Fold the formation in half.
- Fold the open end down and inward.
- Continue by wrapping the overlap around the fold.
- Carefully place the fold into your jacket pocket.
About the Fold:
This fold is a favourite for many. It’s unique and one of those folds that gives a feeling of gentle friendliness. Perfect for multiple situations, this fold can work well at work, at home, with a tuxedo, with a sports jacket. Wear a tie, don’t wear a tie; whatever you want to do with this fold. There are no rules.
To look at it does take you back to a time when there were less rules. You could slide down the banister on a spiral staircase and people used to laugh at your talents. This is a fold for the adventurer; the happy go-lucky lovable pocket square wearing man.
It suits solid coloured fabrics incredibly well, the lighter in weight the better. It’s a difficult fold to master but an easy one to fall in love with. It will soften your appearance slightly, without making you seem flimsy or aloof.
Be careful with it though. You may just find yourself sliding down the spiral staircase handrail while you’ve got this on. It could be quite the distraction during cocktail hour.
