Fold Instructions:
- Start with a pocket square face-up.
- Creating a hole formation with one hand, place the square over the hole.
- Tuck the square into the hole.
- Make sure that the square is secure but not so secure so that it can’t move.
- With your other hand, begin to spin the square in one direction.
- Spin the square until there is a semi-tight hold – it should start to resemble a rose.
- Remove the formation from your hand and hold it firmly in place.
- Fold back each side to create a better hold.
- Fold the bottom under to secure the formation even further.
- Carefully place the fold into your jacket pocket – adjust to resemble the petals of a rose.
About the Fold:
There is nothing more masculine than the confidence of a gentleman holding flowers. If you don’t have flowers, then there is always The Rose Fold. This is a deceptively simple fold that brings a softness to any suit, and admiration from others. It can easily become a conversation piece and ice breaker for people who are approaching the wearer.
This fold lends itself well to special romantic occasions. Ideal for the first date right through to the fiftieth anniversary dinner, it is the perfect fold for courtship. If you’re a guest at a wedding and in search of a companion, it may even aid the process.
This fold works very well with silk to give the look of rose petals, and it makes the fold easier to execute. It is best to use this fold with pocket squares made from a single colour to accomplish that rose look. The feature of this fold is the texture of the fold rather than the pattern of the square itself.
The Rose Fold used in a formal setting will give the wearer a softened appearance. It is best to reserve the use of the fold for these special occasions that will bring a touch of romance and kindness to the attire.
