About the Fold:
Sometimes your pocket square strategy needs to be nice and simple. Sometimes the angles in a fold and the precision folding technique is all too much for the wearer who has so much on their mind. Sometimes, you just need to puff it out. The Puff Fold is a fold of confidence, and indicative of a gentleman with big things on his mind.
Put that pocket square in the pocket, corners first, and have the centre of the material burst forth like a cloud coming from the breast. This is a bold statement that is being made, showing off any pattern that may be on the square. It is suited to any piece of material, but not great to use if you wish to show off the edge.
It’s not just there to prove that you’re someone with too much on their mind to use an intricate fold. You’re a bit of a rule breaker with this fold. Your slight disdain for order and uniformity is shown in your pocket square. Take your favourite square and puff it out; no straight edges, no corners, just reckless eccentricity.
This fold is a traditional fold for the functional thinker. Someone once looked at a pocket square, and considered everyone spending countless amounts of time folding their pocket squares; they drew a line in fashion and said “No. I will wear this square however I please. I haven’t the time for this today.”
