Fold Directions:
* Begin with two contrasting yet complementary pocket squares of different sizes.
- Lay both squares on a flat surface – smooth out the wrinkles.
- Fold each square, corner-to-corner, to form a triangle.
- Fold each corner of the smaller triangle inward toward the bottom corner.
- Center the square over the larger triangle, keeping the crease vertical – the square’s corner should overlap the triangle’s base.
- Wrap the square by folding each corner of the triangle inward toward the bottom.
- With all folds vertical, fold back the corners on each side.
- Fold the bottom corner behind.
- Carefully place the fold into your jacket pocket.
About the Fold:
This fold is incredibly versatile. As a fold that uses two squares, simply change which two squares are in the fold to make it more formal or casual. It is also one of the few double square folds that works well with one patterned and one plain square.
The Double Winged Puff Fold works well as a formal fold with a tuxedo if executed using white for one square and a plain colour for another square. By using a plain and a patterned square, it generates interest in the pocket and makes the wearer seem as though they have mastered the art of pocket square folding.
This fold even works well combining different material types to create visual interest in different textures. This fold does not feature the edge of the square, so it’s not ideal if you have an interesting edge to show off.
The Double Winged Puff Fold brings class and intrigue to the wardrobe, making the wearer one of the most interesting in the room with the mastery of pocket square folds. No one would ever know that this fold is quite easy to learn and difficult to fold poorly.
