Fold Instructions:
- Lay your square on a flat surface – smooth out the wrinkles.
- Fold the square, corner-to-corner, to form a triangle.
- Fold each corner of the triangle inward to the bottom corner.
- Keeping the crease vertical, fold the square in half, corner to corner, to form a triangle.
- Reaching behind the fold, pull out the corners to create the “ears.”
- Fold the corner in the center down, stopping when the point meets the bottom edge.
- Fold either corner inward, stopping when the point meets the center.
- Repeat for the other corner.
- Adjust the “ears” as necessary.
- Carefully place the fold into your jacket pocket.
About the Fold:
This fold is ideal for everyone’s funny uncle. The slightly creative and enjoyable Rabbit Fold will make a great conversation piece with everyone at a family get-together. The little rabbit ears poking out the top of the jacket pocket brings a humour and familiarity to the occasion, potentially making a normally bland suit more fun.
The Rabbit Fold is made for family occasions especially, but is good to use when the day calls for flamboyant humour and eccentricity. It’s definitely not made for formal use or a conservative work environment. One would hesitate to use this fold with a tuxedo, for example.
This fold lends itself well to pocket squares without design in them. White or natural tones help give the square that rabbit look, but almost any colour will work. Try to choose a more rigid fabric, but it’s not the end of the world if one rabbit’s ear goes a little floppy. Don’t forget to make sure both ears are poking out, as well as the top of the rabbit’s head.
Allow others to notice the rabbit and leave it to their imaginations. Before you know it, you’ll be everyone’s favourite uncle when you use this fold.
