Fold Instructions:
- Lay your pocket square on a flat surface – smooth out the wrinkles.
- Fold the square, corner-to-corner, to create a triangle.
- Fold the triangle in half to form a smaller triangle.
- Fold the top layer of the open-ended corner inward, making a crease before the halfway point.
- Fold the bottom layer of the same corner over, stopping before you reach the first fold.
- From the opposite side, fold the entire corner behind.
- Carefully place the fold into your jacket pocket.
About the Fold:
This fold may be named for architects, but it can be used by anybody. This fold gives homage to the creators of buildings and other structures. It is a fold of structure, and also a fold of angles that add character. Some argue that it looks like a uniquely-designed building. Many just enjoy the pocket square fold for what it is; a fold of interest and straight lines.
This fold is useful for many occasions, but can be very powerful for the workplace, formal occasions, even with a tuxedo as long as the choice of fabric is done wisely. Plain fabric would work well for the more formal occasions, and a slight pattern perhaps in other scenarios. Most fabrics will work well since, after all, this square comes with structural support.
This is a good fold for daily wear as much as a useful fold for other occasions, but never for casual wear. It’s much too serious for that. Try to use this fold to show off your desire for structure, and broadcast how much you wish to see that in the world. You are the architect with this fold.
The Architect’s Fold is not made for architects by trade. This is a fold for the thinker, the imagineer, the dreamer who operates within the bounds of reality. This is a fold not for the footloose and fancy free, but for the serious wearer.
